Time is really flying by! Here we are, already well into February! I wish to thank all the parents who have taken a moment to stop and talk about your student's report card. It is my hope and prayer that the comments I give are both accurate and enlightening. It is a joy working with great students and to challenge them to excellence and diligence. It is an even greater joy to see them respond to the challenge and produce work that reflects their capabilities.

The 6th grade weather posters were wonderful! It is apparent that they have learned a great deal from the process of examining daily weather maps. Many students struggled on the last test so I will review and dialogue with them about the processes of weather in hopes of connecting the concepts and then retest on Tuesday. There is a great deal of information covered in the chapter, and, since weather is a daily occurrence, it is important that students begin to understand the processes that produce the daily experience.

The 7th graders will be breaking out the microscopes once again as we examine the function of plants and the movement of water and nutrients through them. It is also a good time to remind you that you can make another Catalina Island payment as the trip will be upon us before we know it! For those who have not made a deposit, please forward one as the school has already paid for their spot. Thank you.

8th graders will deepening their understanding of chemistry as we examine acids, bases and salts. As they revisit acids and bases with their newfound understanding, they will really grasp hold of the theories and processes of these interesting materials. It gives me a great deal of joy to see chemistry come alive in their hearts and minds.
